On January 16, 2026, the traditional annual Charity Ball of the Southern Transylvanian Grand Priory of the Order of Saint George took place in Székelyudvarhely.
This year’s event was held in an intimate and elevated atmosphere, once again reflecting the unity and spirit of service within our community.
A particularly meaningful element of the event was the Holy Mass preceding the ball, held in the Church of Saint George in Székelyudvarhely. The choice of venue was symbolic: in the church of the Order’s patron saint, with knights present in ceremonial attire and the Mass celebrated by a fellow member of the Order, we sought blessings for our community and our service.
Representing the Southern Transylvanian Grand Priory, knights and dames from Háromszék, Gyergyószék and Udvarhelyszék attended the event. Including accompanying guests, nearly 70 participants honored the occasion with their presence.
The distinguished guest of the evening was Dame Dr. Csilla Gotthárd, former Governor of the Order (aD.), originally from Székelyudvarhely and currently residing in Passau. Her presence was a special honor, embodying both local roots and the international standing of the Order.
At the beginning of the formal dinner, Knight Levente Bíró, Grand Prior of the Southern Transylvanian Grand Priory, delivered his annual address.
Knight Tamás Sashalmi-Fekete drew attention to the key historical and Order-related anniversaries of the year, including the 700th anniversary of the founding of the Order of Saint George, to which we intend to contribute with our programs in a worthy manner.
During the evening, a total of 4,000 RON was raised through a charity raffle, supporting charitable causes.
