Introduction to the Gheorgheni (Gyergyószék) Priory
The Gyergyószék Priory of the Order of Saint George (Szent György Lovagrend) is an active community of the Grand Priory of Southern Transylvania, shaped by a strong commitment to community life and the preservation of tradition. It is present in the cultural, historical and social life of Gheorgheni and the wider region.
An important part of the Priory’s activity is the preservation of historical memory. Its members regularly take part in national and local commemorations, including those held on 15 March, 6 October and 23 October, as well as in the civic celebrations and wreath-laying ceremonies of Gheorgheni (Gyergyószentmiklós). Each year, the community is also present at the town’s feast day celebration, the patronal feast of Saint Nicholas Church.
The Gyergyószék Priory is also closely connected to the national and international events of the Order. Its members participate in the investiture ceremonies in Visegrád, in the programs of the Summer University, and in the Visegrád International Palace Games. Their historical reenactment group and squires also appear regularly at the Szeklerland Equestrian Festival, where they contribute to the quality of the event through vivid and engaging presentations of medieval traditions.
One of the most important pillars of the Priory’s life is its ongoing work in the preservation of tradition and in the education of younger generations. The historical reenactment group and the squires hold weekly training sessions in the sports hall of Lăzarea / Gyergyószárhegy, thereby strengthening communal discipline, the transmission of values, and the practical continuation of the chivalric spirit among younger people.
A particularly valuable dimension of the Gyergyó Priory’s work is its social and cultural service. Through its connection to the ORA International aid organization, operated by the Jeszenszky family, the community is linked to social programs that provide a temporary shelter for homeless people, offer support and refuge to mothers in difficult circumstances, and assist children in their everyday needs. In the same spirit, the Pro Art Gallery also plays an important role as a venue for literary, visual arts and cultural programs, exhibitions and public events.
The example of the Gyergyószék Priory clearly shows that the chivalric ideal can remain a living reality in our time as well: in the preservation of historical memory, in the safeguarding of tradition, in active community presence, and in social responsibility.

Introduction
I had the honor of being knighted on April 22, 2017, in Visegrád. I currently live in my hometown, Gyergyószentmiklós (Gheorgheni), together with my family. I am actively involved in several civil organizations and communities, including Kolping, the Order of Vitéz, KÉK, and Háló, where I contribute through volunteer and intellectual work. During historical and church celebrations and commemorations, I proudly represent the Order of Saint George. I work as an economist in the field of finance.

I was born on 25 January 1948 in Tekerőpatak (Valea Strâmbă, part of the municipality of Joseni), Transylvania. I graduated from the Teacher Training College in 1971 with a degree in Physical Education and Sport. For 44 years I served as an educator at the school in Borsec (Borszék), where I also held the positions of Headmaster and Deputy Headmaster for several years. I also served as the leader of the No. 100 Antal Zimmethausen Scout Troop in Borsec. I am a member of the Dr. Nándor Urmánczy Association in Toplița (Maroshévíz) and, with a five-year interruption, have served as a member of the Borsec Local Council continuously since 1992. Following my retirement, I have remained actively engaged in community life as a local tour guide and curator of the Borsec Mineral Water Museum. I am the author of numerous works on local history, having published 32 volumes, several of which are preserved in the János Kájoni County Library and the Municipal Library of Gheorgheni (Gyergyószentmiklós). I am also a member of the editorial boards of Borsec's two local monthly newspapers, Források and Izvoarele, where I regularly publish articles. Both publications are available through the official website of the Municipality of Borsec. For many years I served on the board of the Green Heart (Zöld Szív) Youth Environmental Association, headquartered in Odorheiu Secuiesc. I am married, my wife is a retired kindergarten teacher and together we have two sons and three grandchildren. I was invested as a Knight of the Order of Saint George on 22 July 2011, during a solemn ceremony held in the Chain Church of Satu Mare (Szatmárnémeti).

I was born in Gheorgheni in 2003. I graduated from the University of Târgu Mureș with a degree in horticultural engineering.
I first came into contact with the Order of Knights through the squire training school in Gheorgheni. There, I had the opportunity to learn about medieval knightly culture and warfare, and to present this to the public by performing at various events. Since being knighted in Székelyudvarhely in 2025, I have served as co-director of the squire training school.
